AP, Baghdad— The name "Tabby" was derived from the word "Attabiyah," a section of Baghdad where a type of striped silk was made. The patterns of the silk were similar to the colors of the Iraqi cats, so a form of the word was later used to describe the felines.

Perhaps that is why the Cat has become a symbol of revolution in the war-torn city. It seems that the animal's independence, and resolve has inspired thousands, and has become an icon of revolution.
