German Breeds Contribute to Global Warming

WASHINGTON (AP) - A small group of environmentalists protested outside of the German Embassy in Washington, DC today in reaction to a recent poll that blames several German dog breeds for contributing heavily to global warming.

The recent scientific poll names the 10 gassiest breeds, and lists the German Shepherd, Boxer, and Rottweiler as some of the the worst offenders.

Scientists say that dog gas is largely composed of methane, a greenhouse gas that is up to 20 times stronger than carbon dioxide and major contributer to global warming.

World Methane Production Leaders:

1. German Shepherd
2. Mutt
3. Labrador Retriever
4. Boxer
5. Doberman Pinscher
6. Poodle
7. Cocker Spaniel
8. Rottweiler
9. Beagle
10. Dalmatian

GOP Senator James Inhofe, however, quickly dismissed the poll's findings, saying that there is much scientific debate around the subject of climate change. Watchdog groups, however, then pointed out that the senator received large campaign donations from the Del Monte Food Group; the corporation that produces Snausages, a major source of canine gas.

In response, the EPA has recommended that a new warning label be used to identify offenders.
